Inter-institutional professional network in water sector of Serbia
The Exhibition on Water 2011 will, for the third time, bring together at the same place manufacturers and distributors of equipment, devices and chemicals; representatives of scientific institutions, designing companies, water management enterprises, local governments, public utility companies, ministries; as well as the financial institutions making investments in the water management through donations and loans.
In his opening address of the Exhibition on Water 2010, Mr. Oliver Dulić, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, warned that in Serbia the situation in the area of waters is bad and that the next-year campaign “Clean Serbia” would be dedicated to cleaning the waters.
“Bad situation with waters is a result of insufficient investments and low concern for this resource, as well as of unawareness of its importance.”
Minister Dulić said that over the next few years it was necessary to construct at least 2,000 kilometers of sewerage and around 20 larger water treatment plants, as well as thousands of kilometers of waterworks.
He also added that 80 percents of citizens of Serbia were supplied with water from waterworks, but only 35 percents of these waters were conveyed back to the sewer system, of which hardly six percents were treated in compliance with European standards.
It is exactly why the Exhibition on Water is an ideal platform for starting new initiatives, exchange of knowledge, and overview of innovations, products, services, technologies, and solutions that will lead the development of the water management sector of Serbia and the region to the right direction.
